Zanella Racing Battles Hard at Mid-Ohio

The Fourth of July weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course brought fast-paced action, dramatic twists, and a showcase of determination from Zanella Racing’s driver lineup: Leonardo Escorpioni, Ty Fisher, Diego Guiot, and Maddie Colleran. With a mix of highs and challenges, the team once again demonstrated why it continues to be one of the strongest forces in the USF Juniors championship.
Qualifying – Escorpioni Leads the Charge
Qualifying set the tone for a competitive weekend. Leonardo Escorpioni showed his consistency by once again placing near the front of the field, positioning himself as a serious podium contender. Ty Fisher wasn’t far behind, delivering another strong performance to keep Zanella Racing firmly in the fight at the sharp end.
Diego Guiot improved on his pace through the session, continuing to show growth in his sophomore campaign, while Maddie Colleran gained crucial track time around the technical Mid-Ohio circuit, sharpening her confidence for race conditions.
Race 1 – Escorpioni Back on the Podium
In Saturday’s opener, Escorpioni translated his qualifying pace into results, charging his way to another podium finish. With clean, composed driving, he once again highlighted why he’s a championship contender this season.
Fisher fought hard in the lead group, showing speed and racecraft before crossing the line just shy of the podium, underlining his consistency at the front. Guiot brought home another solid finish in the midfield, adding valuable points for the team, while Colleran executed a steady drive, keeping her focus on development and progress in her rookie campaign.
Race 2 – Team Resilience Shines
Sunday’s race presented new challenges, but Zanella Racing’s resilience was on full display. Escorpioni remained a threat in the championship hunt with another strong finish inside the top pack. Fisher showcased his raw speed once again, battling door-to-door with some of the toughest competition on the grid.
Guiot held firm in the midfield, continuing to gain confidence with each lap, while Colleran gained additional race mileage and experience — essential building blocks in her journey up the Road to Indy ladder.
Takeaways from Mid-Ohio
For Team Principal Jose Zanella, the Mid-Ohio doubleheader was a reminder of the program’s strength and balance. With Escorpioni scoring podium results, Fisher delivering front-running speed, and both Guiot and Colleran growing steadily with each round, the team continues to embody its mission: developing well-rounded drivers and competing for championships.
As the season marches forward, Zanella Racing leaves Mid-Ohio with more hardware, more experience, and even more determination to finish 2025 as strong as it started.
